I’m a 34 year old male photographer based in Sydney. I first picked up a camera in November, 2005, joined ‘Flickr’ in May, 2006, and met some great people who taught me the basics and who became good friends. I shoot both digital and film – 35mm and 120.

In May ’08 I went on a little trip to Tokyo, which changed my life, and the way I look at everything. Really. It was through Flickr, and the contacts I’ve made through it, that I met some fantastic people there, who’s drunken ramblings in smoke-filled bars proved to be the momentum that flicked the switch. So much more to learn now.

I insist of having a human element in my photographs, and I’m trying to come to terms with the philosophy of what I do, especially on the street. I prefer to shoot alone.

I would one day like to be known as a respected photographer amongst peers. I’ve never met a wedding photographer that I liked. I’m becoming less of a gear-head – in fact, I’m downsizing everything – from how I see, to what I use.

Photography is the most important thing in my life. It gives me the most satisfaction, the most frustration, pain and ecstasy. Sometimes all at once. I love to stumble upon the works of others like me in this big internet thingy – works which inspire me and put a smile on my face.

I don’t like brashness, machismo, over-ambitious, extrovert people, TV, business, politics, people with visible nasal hair, parsley…

I like solitude, coolness, wisdom, conversation, cigarettes, Czech beer, women, subtlety, The Mighty Boosh. The soundtrack to me is ‘Untitled’, by Interpol.
